John slatin was an inspiration to all of us in the accessibility field. He made the world a better place. I wrote this song for John when he was in the hospital, and now that he has moved on to the next great adventure, I offer it as a tribute to his courage in the face of adversity.
This song is for you John. You showed us how to live with integrity and how to die with dignity. We miss you a lot.

when the wind of change
breaks the window of pain
we will hold you up
when the midnight rain
is falling again
we will hold you up
there is candle on the altar of God
shining in the darkwe hold you up
in the heart of the night
we hold you up
when you’re tired of trying
we hold you up
to the author of life
we will be holding you upwhen the shifting sands
are hard to understand
we will hold you up
when darkness falls
and the emptiness calls
we will hold you up
there is candle on the altar of God
shining in the darkwe hold you up ...
every time you listen to the rustling leaves
you celebrate the kingdom that no one has seen
Creation’s whisper to a heart in need
that walks by faith and not by sightwe hold you up ...
