Recommendations

"David was a valuable contributor to the development of the Web Contents Accessibility Guidelines. He was a very active member of the working group, drafting techniques and testing proposed techniques with different screen readers. He often used his connections with users with various disabilities to check working group assumptions or answer questions about user expectations. His passion for accessibility shines through his work. He is committed, reliable, and hard working."

Loretta Guarino Reid, Director of Accessibility, Google Inc.

Dear David, we would like to thank  you for the great service and excellent help you provided for all the members of the Embassy. The whole staff was truly satisfied and sometimes surprised of  the easy steps that could be taken in order to improve our work stations.  We all  are more aware of how we sit and how we work, thanks to you. So once again, thank you very much. Margrete Vollelv, Consular Officer, The Royal Norwegian Embassy

“I highly recommend David for web accessibility work. He has a pragmatic approach that combines a deep knowledge of what makes web sites accessible and usable by people with disabilities with an understanding of the constraints and realities of web design. He will look for the best access techniques for a site that will provide the best experience for all users.” November 11, 2009

“David has worked tirelessly as an advocate for persons with disabilities as a major contributing member of the WCAG working group. His priorities are clear. He is innovative, and has come up with interesting solutions - based on real world test cases that he and his colleagues performed/researched - to address some of WCAGs most challenging issues.” July 9, 2009

Katie Haritos-Shea , Invited Expert - Accessibility and Section 508 , W3C WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guideline Working Group)

David undertook for ADIO a nation-wide survey of the Canada's Assistive Device (AD) industry, which was the first of its kind ... Thanks to this survey... the Government of Canada, gained a better understanding of both the size and nature of the Canadian AD industry ... David handled his dealings with these companies with the utmost delicacy and discretion, allaying their fears and obtaining more cooperation from them than would have been possible for a federal public servant ...David also contributed significantly to the creation of content for the Accessible Procurement Toolkit (APT: www.apt.gc.ca) and its companion module, the Workplace Accommodation Toolkit ...its been has been required as part of the Procurement Policy of the European Union. The content David developed for the APT continues to be used on a daily basis both in Canada and around the world ... 420,105 visitors... In all of the work that he undertook for Industry Canada, David MacDonald proved to be meticulous in his research and highly professional in its organization and presentation. He has over the past decade built a well-deserved reputation for his innovative and exemplary approach to developing appropriate solutions for individuals, solutions that are both accessible and ergonomically sound. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a highly skilled professional in accessibility.
